Former Norwalk Residents Die in Florida Crash

Two former Norwalk residents, Blanche E. Allen, 84, and her daughter Margaret Jean Allen, 49, were killed in a Christmas Eve two car crash near Bradenton Florida. Blanche Allen was a biology professor at Wilson College in Chambersburg Tennessee and held a PhD in biology. Funeral services and burial were held in Fort Myers. Survivors include a daughter in Odessa Florida a son in Germany a brother in Ireland a sister in Cornwall England and five grandchildren.

Police Hunt Suspect In Theft Of Checks

Police filed breaking and entering charges against William Winter III 21 for breaking into Hart Advertising at 69 E Seminary. Stolen were checks and a writing machine with some checks signed by Winter turning up in Norwalk. Hart said a window was forced open and Winter had been staying at the Colonial Hotel. A prior Waterbury address lists 76 Elm Street. Police described Winter as 6 foot 3 155 pounds with dark hair. Checks for 50 15 and 1 15 recovered.
