Vietnam Veterans Barricade Statue of Liberty in Protest

Sixteen members of Vietnam Veterans Against the War locked inside the Statue of Liberty after closing hours. They blocked all entrances and issued a statement supporting anyone who refuses to kill, presenting a symbolic action by a new generation of Vietnam survivors.

Nixon approves heavy North Vietnam air strikes

U S fighter bombers hit supply depots and military sites in North Vietnam in one of the heaviest attacks since Nixon became president. The raids involved Air Force and Navy jets aimed at supply stockpiles near the Laos border to disrupt Ho Chi Minh trail shipments. Sunday saw about 250 strikes.

Four Boys Admit Fire Set At Rubber Pile Site

Four youths aged 12 to 15 admitted starting a blaze in large rubber piles behind the Durable Mat Co after stealing flares from a nearby Norfolk and Western building. McCarthy backs recognizing Cuba over isolation stance
