Atlanta report notes Bobby Jones died after an extended illness at 69. He retired from competitive golf 41 years earlier at 28 and remains the only player to win the U.S. and British Opens and Amateurs in one year, 1930.

Bank notes serial numbers aid hunt for Albrecht kidnapping

Police said serial numbers on part of the 2.1 million mark ransom are known and banks were alerted to spot changes. Theo Albrecht, co owner of a 600 store discount chain, was released by masked kidnappers after the payout. Authorities mounted a nationwide manhunt as details of the abduction emerged.

City Opens Two Bids On Power System

Norwalk received two bids for its municipal electric system both above six million dollars. Yankee-Dixie Power offered 6 201 000 with three alternates and a re purchase option. Ohio Edison bid 6 096 199 including 246 199 value for improvements. City to transfer income tax duties to the treasurer

City council will consider an ordinance Tuesday night moving income tax administration from the city auditor to the city treasurer as part of a city reorganization advised by Haskins and Sells. Deputy Charles Woodward will run the tax department full time, freeing the treasurer to focus on accounting.

Meat Truck Sideswipes Car In Norwalk Area Crash

An Akron couple were injured when a meat truck and car collided on U S 20 and Ohio 601 east of Norwalk. Quay Akins and Bernice Akins were admitted in fair condition. The truck driver Robert Stevens was treated. Akins was charged with failure to stop for a stop sign.
