Ohio to issue four year driver licenses starting 1972

Ohio motorists beginning January will receive four year licenses for new and renewal cases. The change follows a 1969 law with four year licenses issued to new holders and renewals for last names L through Z in 1972 and to all applicants in 1973.

UPI reports four Americans killed and 14 wounded in the Vietnam War last week with nine other GIs killed and 78 wounded the prior week. Total US deaths reach 45,617 since 1961 with 302,297 wounded. Also notes 34 Americans died in a Da Nang helicopter crash to be included next week.

The firm won a Monroeville water plant contract and aims for more bids such as one at Rittman, Ohio, citing federal pollution programs as a driver. Gilligan approves new Ohio budget and tax package

Gov. John J. Gilligan backs a conference committee report proposing about 760 million dollars in new revenues including a one half to three percent personal income tax. The endorsement arrived via letter read by aide John C. McDonald as the formal report was being printed for committee signing.

Ralph J. Three Judges Convict Damron of Manslaughter

Glenn Damron, 24, was found guilty of manslaughter by a three judge panel over the March 17, 1969 death of his stepson Kelly E. Wilson. Evidence cited bruises and a cerebral hemorrhage linked to battered child syndrome. sentencing to follow a pre sentence report in a couple weeks.
