Stolen private plane ditched after wild Atlantic chase

An inexperienced pilot stole a Piper Comanche from Lakewood Airport and after four failed landings at Kennedy Airport steered toward the Atlantic. Coast Guard planes pursued 50 miles east of Norfolk as the craft ran out of fuel and sank. the pilot was plucked from the water and described in good condition.

AMA Doctors Call Teen Venereal Disease Epidemic

UPI reports at the AMA 22nd Clinical Convention that doctors describe a serious venereal disease epidemic among minors and urge legal changes to allow minors to consent to treatment. The AMA House of Delegates votes on the resolution. 4,500 physicians attend as progress in cardiac pacemakers is noted and a new arteriosclerosis treatment for leg arteries is discussed.

First successful human heart transplant completed in 1967

South Africa surgeon Christiaan Barnard completed the first heart transplant on December 3 1967 when Denise Darval's heart was placed in Louis Washkansky. Nearly 100 transplants followed worldwide with praise from Dr Denton Cooley and others as Blaiberg later recovered well.
