Fire kills 13 in two-family home in Peabody

A three alarm blaze in Peabody Mass killed Fred L Davidson 53 and Elizabeth 48 and two youngest sons Charles 13 and Derek 8. Eight other Davidson family members escaped. The home housed both generations with five children downstairs and others upstairs.

Two men charged in Mountbatten's death

Irish police charged Francis McGirl and Thomas McMahon with murder in the bombing that killed Lord Louis Mountbatten on his yacht near the Irish border. The blast also killed a teenager, Mountbatten’s grandson, and Dowager Lady Brabourne. The government offered a 200000 dollar reward for the killers. The bodies, including Mountbatten aged 79 and his grandson Nicholas, were to be flown to England for funeral events at Westminster Abbey with royal participation expected on arrival.

Willard man faces misdemeanor trial in death of Hershiser

Silas Sloan thirty ons stage for trial in Huron County Common Pleas Court on charges of menacing and trespassing after an altercation with 62 year old Wilur Hershiser of New Haven Township. The June 13 motorcycle incident near a gravel pit led to Hershiser’s death at Willard Area Hospital. The charges were reduced from involuntary manslaughter following coroner’s ruling that Hershiser choked on his own vomit.
