Scrimmage Marks Start of Prep for Truckers and Flyers
Coaches Leonard Hardman and Mike Gottfried expressed satisfaction after Saturday’s first scrimmage at the Junior High field. Oberlin scored twice against the Truckers, while the Flyers reached five times against New Lexington, with Amato connecting on a 35 yard pass to Wasiniak and Missler breaking for 60 yards early. Amato went 12 of 21 for 265 yards as Missler gained 156 on seven carries, and several backs averaged near five yards per carry. The teams dealt with heat and injuries including guard Denny McCreary twisting an ankle.
