Jail Chief Fined For Court Contempt Inadequate Jail Conditions

Mahoning County Sheriff Ray T. Davis was fined 500 for contempt in court by Judge Clyde Osborn but the penalty was suspended requiring monthly court reports on jail conditions. Davis must inspect weekly, provide blankets soap towels, assign deputies to six jail tiers and report prisoner complaints.

82 Year-Old Man Trapped Three Days After Car Overturns

In Aurora Oregon 82 year old Carl C Whitney was trapped for three days after his car overturned in his driveway due to brake failure. Neighbors found him between the roof and front seat on Tuesday. He was hospitalized with dehydration exposure and chemical burns from leaking gasoline covering over twenty percent of his body.

Mayor disputes traffic routing for Cedar Point

Mayor Wayne Goodsite says he did not propose routing traffic bound for Cedar Point up Old State Road Norwalk. He says the Reflector misunderstood a suggestion to extend the U S 20 bypass north of town and build a temporary road at Gallup Avenue to divert bypass traffic. District Highway Director Harold Reader estimates the extension would cost about 8 million dollars.
