Toy pistol delays boy departing Port Columbus flight

A 5 year old boy carrying a chrome cap gun was detained by Port Columbus guards after metal detector alerts. Security prohibited the toy from cabin use, delaying the flight to New York for Mrs. Zelenak and Andy as FAA paperwork was filed.

1977 Huron County Fair Seen As Successful

Fair manager James Ross of North Fairfield called the 1977 Huron County Fair a success. Paid attendance reached 19,360 Monday through Friday, with four days totaling an estimated 46,000. Rain forecast earlier in the week did not materialize. only notable shower occurred before Tuesday's tractor pull. The event ended Saturday at 11:30 p.m. with the demolition derby finale.

Son of Oil Magnate Arrested in Pacific Palisades Shooting

Julian Hammer, 42, son of Dr Armand Hammer, was arrested after allegedly firing at neighbor Vincent West during a money dispute. He faces assault with a deadly weapon charges and $1,000 bail, arraignment scheduled Friday. West survived the confrontation unharmed.

Candidate Claims Police Harassment in Sheriff Run Lawsuit

John Coyne, candidate for Clermont County sheriff, filed a $750,000 federal suit alleging police harassment and false arrest. Named defendants are Norborne C. Ward, former Batavia police chief, and George Woods, Batavia police sergeant, over Coyne’s campaigning incident involving a half track military vehicle and a motorcycle parked on Batavia streets.
