In Parsons Street incident 70 year old Gary Myers was charged with improper start after his pickup collided with Lyle Shantz 28 who drove the other vehicle. Fries 25 was charged with failure to control after hitting a parked car on Maple Street. A Grafton woman, Marlene Brkich 20, was hospitalized after a crash at Butler and Zenobia Roads when Barbara Harsar 36 lost control and struck a pole. Harsar was not charged.
Five men were arrested after attempting to sell marijuana to undercover agents on U S 250 near the Ramada Inn. A car carrying 10 pounds of marijuana worth about 3000 dollars was seized. Arrestees were Guy P Geiger 20 Sandusky Wendel Finley 25 Castalia Jack Meyers 28 Sandusky Gene W Schoene 21 Sandusky and Harold Marcus 29 Cleveland. They face sale and possession charges with two added counts for illegal use of a vehicle. The case ends a three month probe.
Oscar Armando Garcia, 35, of 25 Marian Dr., was sentenced in Huron County Common Pleas Court to one year in jail with nine months suspended and five years probation after pleading to reduced charges. He begins serving 90 days. The count of keeping a house for marijuana was dropped. possession reduced to misdemeanor. Also sentenced: Gary Chill three days in jail for drunken driving. Raymond Stogner jailed for failing to appear at a child support hearing.

Ninety six buyers filled the crowd at the Huron County Junior Fair livestock sale on Saturday as more than 300 steers hogs and lambs moved through the auction netting young sellers 75835. Buyers included North Fairfield American Legion Bellevue Farmers Coop EHOVE Young Farmers Monroeville Kiwanis Monroeville Marine and several banks farms and businesses.
