Governor Rhodes signed a broad drug abuse reform bill in Columbus, easing penalties for casual possession of small marijuana amounts while stiffening penalties for selling hard drugs and corrupting others. The measure, backed by Attorney General William Brown, eliminates jail for first small marijuana possession starting November 20 and imposes seven years minimum for corrupting with dangerous narcotics from July 1. It also sets up penalties up to 25 years in prison and fines up to $10,000 for pushing hard drugs.
