Washington Congressman Charles A. Mosher released early results from 4,000 questionnaires showing strong district concern on national issues and a large desire to voice opinions. He set a September 1 deadline for returns and expects final tally over 10,000. full analysis planned for mid September.
Emerson Cole announced completion of a money management guide by George Linn of the Huron County Board of Education. The easy to read guide will assist poverty relief efforts in Neighborhood Service Centers and schools this fall. Cole noted families earning 5000 to 9000 dollars yearly are in poverty due to poor money handling and expects the guide to yield results. Jane Sennett highlighted Head Start success, crediting teachers and community support. George Hayduk said Head Start Parent Advisory Councils will expand to address total family structures beyond preschool. Cole described CAC’s need to secure 1969 funds, with a December 31 deadline to complete 100 to 150 pages of forms for the Chicago regional office, requiring surveys and priority lists. He warned of extra board meetings to finish the task, calling it a group effort.
