Eighth District Congressman Betts says eligible farmers can use reserve cropland in Huron County for haying and grazing. Farmers must apply through the Huron ASC and await federal review. A drawback is a potential reduction in feed grain and wheat payments. More details expected soon.

Coast Guard Academy Seeks Class of 1974 Recruits
The U S Coast Guard Academy invites applications for the class of 1974 on a competitive basis with no congressional or geographic quotas. Applicants must be unmarried 17 to 22 on July 1 1970 and have a high school diploma or be graduating by June 30 1970 with at least 15 credits. Applications due December 15 and testing arrangements via high school counselors before December 6. Successful completion earns a Bachelor of Science and a commission as an ensign.

Monroeville Student to Attend Teenage Institute on Alcohol
John W. Meyer, senior at Monroeville High School, among 120 participants in the fourth annual Teenage Institute on Alcohol at Wittenberg University Springfield August 24 to 27. Selection cited sincere interest in teen age drinking program and leadership ability. Institute, sponsored by state health and liquor departments and parent teacher groups, will study physical psychological social and legal aspects of underage drinking.
