Thieves broke into St Paul Catholic Church between 5 30 p m Wednesday and 7 a m today and took four collection boxes with an undetermined cash amount. They damaged another box and stole two keys on a chain. Norwalk police seek information.
Mary Ford of the 1950s singing duo with Les Paul is in serious condition in Arcadia California. A hospital spokesman said she was admitted August 8 in a diabetic coma per a close family source.

With a week left before the filing deadline only two people, incumbents W Dale Rafie and Michael J Myers, are circulating petitions for three Norwalk Board of Education seats. Holman plans to step down in December after 16 years, and no strong takers have emerged. The filing deadline is August 25 with write ins due by September 29. other districts in the county show multiple candidates already filed or circulating petitions.
