Vietnamese troops seize Viet Cong assembly line plants in delta

South Vietnamese forces captured three Viet Cong assembly line factories in the Mekong Delta capable of supplying grenade mines and booby traps for thousands of guerrillas. Troops parachuted into a Communist base camp and found hidden munitions plants deep in the Plain of Reeds, 65 miles southwest of Saigon.

Cuban group flies stolen biplane to Florida for asylum

Fourteen Cuban men, women and children reportedly stole a large yellow Russian built biplane and landed at Homestead airport at 8 55 am seeking political asylum. Federal officials described the event as an asylum bid with the aircraft now in U S hands.

Burglars Steal 50 From Norwalk Library

Norwalk Public Library suffered a break in sometime Wednesday night or early Thursday. Custodian Ira Dolbee found the east door ajar at about 7 a.m. cash drawer taken from the reception room. Entry was gained via drain pipe and a slitted window screen. Thief forced the desk drawer and took 15. Petty cash 17.62 and envelopes with 3 and 4 in change were also stolen. Exit was through the east door.

Walls Appointed Welfare Director in Huron County

Grant Walls of Norwalk High School athletic director and teacher was named welfare director of Huron County by county commissioners from three civil service hopefuls. The 60 year old plans to resign his probation officer post and asks a zoning compatibility ruling from City Solicitor, with William R Holmes of Defiance and Henry R Miller of Fremont as the other nominees.
