Norwalk Board Eases Teacher Salary Credit Policy
The Norwalk Board of Education considers a policy change on second reading to grant full credit for each year of experience up to five extra years and to include credit for licensed or military service. The move aims to improve hiring of experienced teachers as districts in Ohio show varied credit practices. The proposal, prompted by hiring difficulties, will be decided on a third reading next month.

Berlin Township Seeks Funds to Cover Unforeseen Increases
Berlin Heights trustees wrestle with rising fire department maintenance costs from $4,300 to $6,100 over three years. They warn the budget may fall about $2,000 short unless transfers from road funds occur, but transfers would cripple road programs and require a court order for 36 miles of streets.
