Ohio Tax Brackets Likely Push Sales Tax Above Four Percent
Republican members of the Ohio House Taxation Committee say the proposed sales tax bracket changes would raise the rate to about 4.5 percent to fund education. George Hammond of the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants urged new brackets quoting 4 percent as a target, while the committee noted the bill does not state a 4 percent cap. Second Man Charged In Local Burglary
A second suspect, James Marlin Moore age 31 of 39 Gallup Ave, was arrested in Beaver Falls Pa by the state patrol and returned. Police say a $250 safe was taken in the July 22 B F Goodrich burglary and later recovered in woods off River Road.

Wickert Receives Navy Commendation for Viet Nam Service
Lt Alan Wickert son of Mr and Mrs John Wickert 20 S Garden St awarded the Navy Commendation Medal for his duties aboard the destroyer USS Colett off North Vietnam coast. The citation cites his leadership keeping the weapons system in readiness during operations from March 11 and April 17 to May 8. Wickert served six years in the Navy and spent 14 months in Southeast Asia, recently discharged and taking a job with Caterpillar Tractor in Peoria IL. He and his wife Nancy and their two children are visiting her parents in Kalamazoo Michigan and expected in Norwalk next week.
