Norwalk Sailor Injured In Viet Nam Land Mine Blast
Jerome R. Pflieger a 19 year old Navy medical corpsman from Norwalk was one of 13 in a party of 13 that survived a land mine explosion in Vietnam on July 30. He suffered ruptured spleen two broken legs and collapsed lungs and was operated on in Vietnam before being flown to Andrews Air Force Base Hospital and later to Great Lakes Naval Hospital. Pflieger a 1965 St Paul High School graduate will be 20 in November.

Weekend Tragedy Claims Life Of 14 Year Old Michael Kinzer
A 14-year-old New London boy, Michael Eugene Kinzer, died Sunday after drowning at Le Mar Lake Park. Lifeguards assisted with mouth to mouth resuscitation but airways remained blocked by undigested food. Kinzer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kinzer, would have started at New London High School in September. He is survived by two sisters and relatives. Funeral services are set for Wednesday at the Eastman Funeral Home.

Tragedy on Trestle: Nine-Year-Old Killed by Train Near Milan
Nine year old Patrick James McKain died when a train struck him on a trestle near Fries Landing while he and siblings played on the structure. The Norfolk & Western engine and caboose were eastbound from Bellevue. Patrick, born in Norwalk, left behind parents Harry and the McKains and siblings Dennis Michael and Brian. Services set for Tuesday in Norwalk with burial at North Monroeville Cemetery.

Seneca Students May Transfer to Huron District
A bid to transfer about 2000 acres of Seneca County land to the Huron County School District was presented to the county school board. Area youths now attending Bismark and Attica Schools may move as they live in Huron County. The board delayed action. A Lyme School District plan to send seventh and eighth graders to Belle Vue for 1967 was also discussed. Lyme officials cited existing hires and possible reassignment to Monroeville if approved.
