Survey Aims to Track Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis in Huron County Horses
County 4-H clubs survey horse, pony, mule and burro populations across townships to aid outbreak control of VEE that has hit Texas horses. The Huron County committee coordinates action with veterinarians and health officials, noting no current need for treatment or inoculation and emphasizing quarantine and reporting suspicious illness. Horse owners are urged caution in buying and selling animals while offices will monitor and respond to signs of disease.
