City Council Sets Sewage Plant Plans and Substation Project
The council adopted two resolutions for sewage disposal plant improvements and sent the plant plan by Fink r Pettis and Strout ledo to the Housing and Home Finance Agency for approval. An ordinance appropriating 310000 for two power substations and a loop was approved as an emergency with Valley Electric Co. of Fremont chosen as contractor for the $289500 construction work.

Obituary of Lawrence M Russell Monroeville Farmer and Community Member
Lawrence M Russell died Tuesday at Jamarial County Land Memorial Hospital. He was a retired farmer who spent most of his life in Groton Township and belonged to St. John's Lutheran Church. Survived by his wife Freda two daughters Mrs William Weigel and Mrs Robert Tremper five grandchildren and one sister Mrs Lawrence Miller. Preceded in death by one son and four brothers. Friends may call after 1 pm Thursday and until noon Friday at Drake Funeral Home Monroeville. Services at 2 pm Friday at St John's Lutheran with Stepien Northup officiating burial at Sand Hill Cemetery.

City approves bids and trims figures on city projects
Equipment for the loop and substations was purchased earlier this year and the project came in $29,000 under engineers estimates. Price Construction Co. was the sole bidder for the street improvement program with $30,000 allotted. a $7,150 appropriation buys two dump trucks trading in 1952 models for 1960s models. Bob Meyer Chevrolet bid $7,600 about $500 higher. Two council resolutions were amended to reference state law and change human relations committee terms to three years. The council also adopted a resolution praising retiring Utilities Superintendent Howard W Sallabank for 45 years of service.
