Dr. Martin Luther King arrives in Cleveland for two days of meetings with Negro leaders and a public address on Wednesday as officials fear a repeat of last year’s violence in the Hough area. Humphrey urges education as key to betterment in Houston.
Pittsburgh sponsors Amen Corner say two additional guests cancel for the Wallace dinner. Brig. Gen. Robert W. Strong Jr. and Sir Reginald Sholl cannot attend after notices. Earlier Richard Mellon, Mayor Bart and other local politicians boycotted the event amid civil rights protests.
James P Hoffa son of imprisoned Jimmy Hoffa attempts to start a political career in a Democratic primary for a Michigan House seat. He competes with Mathew M McCusker son of a United Auto Workers executive board member for the nomination to fill the late Rep Kowalski's seat in a May 23 special election.
In Cologne a flag draped coffin carried Konrad Adenauer to a final service as world leaders including President Johnson wept. The 91 year old leader’s death marked a historic turn for Germany, now a Western ally.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. told reporters a Negro could be elected president in this generation, but he said he would not run. He noted groups urged him to become a candidate and emphasized his role outside partisan politics while supporting a strong negro and liberal white vote to win.
In Baton Rouge five Negro students were wounded by a night watchman during a demonstration against Southern Universitys refusal to rehire three professors. Seven were hospitalized with nonfatal gunshot injuries while authorities described the campus as quiet and secured.
Monroeville Police Chief Jerrold D. Henery 40 was charged with failure to stop within a safe distance after a three car chain reaction on Norwalk's West Main Street. He pleaded no contest in Mayor's Court and received a $10 fine plus costs as witnesses reported minor injuries and extensive vehicle damage.
County Agent John Wells estimates about 80 percent of the fruit crop in Huron County will be lost this year with peaches hit hardest. He notes the 28 degree cold snap and February's extreme lows damaged the crop after a milder winter, with peaches suffering four of the last five years.
Mr and Mrs Ted J Heller of 17 E Chestnut St await word that their son Gary wounded in Viet Nam has been returned to the United States. He was notified April 17 as seriously ill from fragment wounds to both legs and lung fluid. He signed a letter last Friday saying dont worry, I am getting along fine but he said he lost his left foot. He expected to be back in three or four days and would call when arrived. The Hellers will visit as soon as possible if government permission is granted.

Monroeville police arrested Fred Fairchild after finding a television set owned by Mrs. Anna Herrick in his possession. Herrick reported the missing set after her son Russell Rentner moved out, and towels and paint were also missing. Fairchild, 38, pled innocent in Huron County Common Pleas Court and posted a $1000 bond. Russell Fairchild had moved to Napoleon, Ohio.
New London Board of Education and NLTA negotiating committee met in a closed session to discuss a proposed professional negotiating policy. A tentative agreement was reached on several items and NLTA submitted a petition with a majority of teachers requesting a written agreement and exclusive representation in negotiations.
