Frost tonight could heavily damage orchards across Norwalk and Berlin Heights with peaches already frozen for a fifth year. Growers fear losses to apples plums pears and cherries as temperatures dip below freezing and pollination stalls amid damp weather.
In Pasadena California the Surveyor 3 robot turned its television camera toward the earth and stars as an eclipse caused a 355 degree temperature drop. At minus 155 degrees it endured extreme cold to test the camera's ability to photograph space objects and possibly a thin sliver of the earth.
Gov. Rhodes announced comedian Bob Hope will headline the 1967 Ohio State Fair in Columbus. Hope, who spent his early childhood in Cleveland, will perform Sunday and Monday September 3 and 4, during the fair’s final two days. The fair opens August 24.

Soviet cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov is killed when parachute straps entangle during landing of Soyuz 1. The 40 year old veteran had just completed a successful re entry before the craft crashed to earth. Moscow planned a state funeral for Komarov as Tass confirms the fatality.
Western Reserve school buses will test double runs Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday from 7 to 7 45 a m for junior and senior high students and 8 to 8 45 for elementary pupils. Two buses will run express and handle transfers while Wakeman kindergarten routes are unchanged.
Police seek search warrant in grand larceny case over the weekend. The incident involved a 1967 automobile at the Service Garage Used Car Lot on Milan Avenue being jacked up and its wheels and tires removed. Police Chief Jerrold Henery confirms grand larceny but withheld details.
A 19 year old man Donald Brandt from San Francisco and 20 year old Judy Steiner of Norwalk and California were arrested after a stolen truck was found with them Sunday on Cable Road in Berlin Township. They claimed they planned to marry in Cleveland and were held on $2000 bond. The truck owner Lawrence Johns Berlin Heights reported the theft and the case remains under investigation.
