Monroeville Board approves across the board six percent wage hike
MONROEVILLE An across the board six percent wage increase for all school district employees including Superintendent Donald Halsey was approved by the Board of Education. Opponents Jesse Roeder and Chester Opper dissented with abstentions and votes cast in favor by Robert Leber William Stang and John Jump. The board also sent a thank you note to bus driver Melvin Martin for 22 years service and did not award back pay. Additional actions included granting 36 one year certificated contracts, approving several non certificated contracts and resignations, and certifying 83 graduates pending all requirements. The district asked Columbia Gas to review a high gas bill that the board intends not to pay.
