The Pontiac botulism outbreak rose to 39 cases with four new patients. One victim is in critical condition, and a patient in the intensive care unit was admitted to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Deadly hail crash on Highway 68 in Georgia
A Southern Airways DC9 with 85 aboard crashed during an emergency landing on Highway 68 near New Hope Georgia in a ferocious hailstorm. Sixty eight people died and 27 were injured when the plane struck a grocery store and cars before exploding. Captain William W McKenzie died trying to steer toward safety. Federal investigators reported hail damage to engines and windshield and recovered the flight data recorder.

Two Year Old Drowns In Townsend Pond
A two year old boy, David A. Cole, drowned Monday evening in a pond at his family's Arcadia Road home south of Ohio 18 Townsend Townsh. He fell in about 6 p.m. and was found by his father. He died on arrival at Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital. Surviving are his parents and a brother, plus maternal and paternal grandparents. Funeral services are set at Heaston-Gerber Funeral Home Norwalk with burial in Collins Cemetery.
