Tornado Hits Bailey Lakes Injuring Six And Wrecking Homes
A twister struck Bailey Lakes ten miles south of New London Saturday night injuring six people and destroying homes and buildings. The Daniel Keeners family, along with four children, were treated and released after their house collapsed at 9 29 p.m. The Ringlers endured roof damage and bricks from a nearby building pelting their home as a new house under construction and two Bailey Lakes apartments suffered heavy damage. Several other structures including a cabin cruiser were demolished. Civil Defense and National Guard aided in traffic control as power outages affected about 300 customers initially, with 50 still out Sunday morning.
