Norwalk safety forces demand 25 percent pay hike

In Norwalk the 15 police and fire personnel at a Tuesday night meeting issued an ultimatum to the City Council and Goodsite administration. They will take other action if a contract is not settled by April 22 at 6 a.m. The city cites financial woes and a nearly $200,000 1977 budget cut as barriers to a 25 percent raise.

Winter Snow Grips Ohio With Hazardous Driving Conditions

Rogers Named Monroeville Police Chief

Lt. Gordon Rogers was named acting chief of the Monroeville Police to replace David Williams whose resignation takes effect April 14. Village solicitor Franklin Eckstein also resigns. Williams and Eckstein left March 26. Eckstein cites too many evening meetings. Council scheduled a special meeting for April 11 to consider a salary ordinance.
