Marine Cpl Anthony M. Romano, 21, son of Mr and Mrs A Romano of 931 N Hamlin, serves with Headquarters Battalion of the 1st Marine Division in Viet Nam. He helps move troops, supplies and equipment for the battalion as part of the motor transport section.
Johanna Mierlak Janice Polzin April Quehl and Sandra Sturgot earned the silver pin for typing class by maintaining at least 50 net words per minute in a 20 minute test.
Catherine Garr of 1923 N Kedzie, longtime Evanston area resident, is honored with a gold service pin for 25 years of service at Shure Brother Inc. She has worked in multiple assembly departments and now serves in the Microphone Cartridge department. She is mother to two sons and grandmother to 12.
The Fifth district American Legion Auxiliary will hold its regular meeting at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Charles Roth Post home in Oak Park. Juniors from several units will open the gathering and discuss plans for the department convention at Sherman House July 24 to 27. Mrs. Robert Lestina is named district delegate with elections to follow.
Marine Pvt Henry F. Gralak 20 son of Mr and Mrs Felix Gralak 2454 N Spaulding has graduated from eight weeks of recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego California.
Des Plaines Vanguard Drum and Bugle corps will sponsor its 4th annual Youth on Parade with the Cavaliers Royal Airs Nisei Ambassadors St Andrews Hornets and St Josephs Batavia NY Blue Stars LaCrosse Wis and Sky Riders Hutchinson Kan appearing. Exhibitions by bands color guards drill units and Vanguard in exhibition precede the contest with tickets available from Vanguard members.
