AT&T seeks fast track for Burkittsville repeater station
AT&T officials pressed for quick county approval of a new repeater station near Burkittsville on Shafer farm land east of Catholic Church Road. After community resistance, the plan to disguise the building as a German barn was proposed, with Shafer family objections and a requirement to meet with them before final permitting. The Frederick County Commissioners agreed to place the project on an early review list but mandate negotiations with the Shafer family to address concerns. Marriott International and the public reportedly need the station, which sits atop existing fiber optics and was discussed with the Burkittsville community last week.
