Supreme dairy champs crowned at The Great Frederick Fair
The Great Frederick Fair honored supreme champion dairy cattle females in both 4-H and open divisions with banners, balloons, and music. Judges Denny Remsburg, Lenny Pieper, and Michael Haines selected champions from Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Jersey, Holstein, and Milking Shorthorn shows. T.J. Remsberg of Middletown claimed the 4-H grand champion Holstein Brook Lodge C. Chips, a senior 2-year-old, with his owner saying it felt great. Chips had previously been the 4-H supreme junior champion as a calf two years earlier, and this marks a first-time overall supreme banner for the family after 50 years.

Man charged after dog attack injures son in Woodsboro
Gregg Harding faces neglect charges after his family Rotweiller attacked Zachary Brooks at the Buffington Road home in Woodsboro. Lori Brooks, Zachary’s mother, says the boy has more than 100 wounds on his head and face and injuries to his left hand and arm. Hospital surgeons say Zachary was lucky to be alive, while witnesses dispute that the dog was chained or dangerous.

Plans to ease Md 355 backups in Maryland
State Highway Administration officials outlined two temporary ramps that would connect Adventist Drive to the westbound ramps of I-70 and Md 355. The proposals, funded by project savings, could cost about 2.5 million and be ready by late March. The plan seeks county support to add to the 1-70/1-270 project under construction.

Dog euthanized after promise of 10 day quarantine
Myersville resident Emily Searles claims Duke the golden retriever was to be kept for a 10 day quarantine after biting her 3 year old son Brian, who required 21 stitches. She says the Frederick County Humane Society euthanized the dog the next day despite assurances and papers suggesting adoption efforts.
