NHTSA probes defects in airbags and wipers across GM Ford vehicles
The NHTSA is expanding reviews into air bag deployments in GM cars and windshield wiper failures in Pontiac Grand Prix Buick Regal Oldsmobile models from 1995 to 1998, plus Ford Explorer Mercury Mountaineer SUVs, with millions of recalled or on-road vehicles. At least 38 injuries and 17 000 warranty claims are noted amid widespread complaints.

DaimlerChrysler recalls cars and trucks for bracket crack fixes
DaimlerChrysler AG recalls about 39 reports of bracket cracking or separation on Concorde and other models. A clamshell device will reinforce the bracket attaching the control arm to the engine cradle. About 75 customers reported cracked shock absorber towers on 1994-1995 Dodge Ram diesel or V-10 trucks. Recalls will be mailed in December.
