Garment workers recalled by seniority at Thurmont plant
About 30 workers have been recalled at the Claire Frock garment plant in Thurmont as MD ILGWU director Jackson Moore says the recalls follow seniority per the contract. Workers have not yet received back pay for three months at lower wages, and union talks with plant manager Calvin Sayler continue. A contract arbitrator ruled Sayler remains bound to the union contract expiring May 1988. Many workers pursue unemployment as union health care support ends for those not yet recalled.
