May Attain Grain Goal Before Jan 1
New York October 28 Charles Luckman chairman of the Citizens Food Committee said the voluntary food conservation program was progressing well and the goal of saving 100,000,000 bushels of wheat and grain for Europe may be achieved before January 1. He spoke after a briefing with civic fraternal veterans and other national groups and suggested Congress may extend measures. He hoped to finish the emergency task by year’s end, but refused to specify actions post January. A spokesman denied any intended implication about meatless and eggless days ending on January 1.
