Marble is durable yet porous and stains. Wipe spills immediately and identify stain type. Greasy stains respond to ammonia and water or a paste of whiting with solvents. Organic stains use whiting with hydrogen peroxide and a touch of ammonia. Etching from acids requires washing and paste treatments, then polishing with marble polish and a damp cloth. Finish with paste wax to protect the surface.
