Montgomery County Police Chief Di Grazia Faces Statement Probe

A special Police Association meeting in Rockville was called to hear chief Di Grazia respond to a TV statement alleging department discredit of officers. The session follows a grand jury probe into department management and notes unrest and morale issues within Montgomery County's police force.

FCC Ends FY 78 With 3000 Dollar Surplus At FCC

Frederick Community College closed fiscal year 1978 with a 3000 dollar surplus from 2.47 million dollars in revenues. Lin ton Shafer audit shows 24 percent from student tuition, 32 percent from county government, 35 percent from state coffers, and 10 percent from other sources. Sixty one percent of expenditures funded instruction and library. six percent went to student affairs. 24 percent to facilities and administration. The board accepted the audit. a separate land sale request involving Ernest Ausherman and Clover Hill subdivisions was deferred for more study. the college senate urged against selling the land and asked redesign of the development to avoid road alignment along the college property. The Frederick County Commissioners urged sale based on a 1987 agreement, though records are unclear. New comptroller Martin A. Crabbs, replacing Wayne Stumph, was appointed. Dr Turner joined Maryland Association of Community College presidents finance committee. Stern recused himself from Ausherman discussions.

Mrs Keith Wins Circuit Court Appeal In Maryland

A Frederick County Circuit Court jury acquitted Mrs Mildred Ann Keith of driving while impaired after a Monday trial. Judge Samuel Barrick presided as other Appeals Day cases proceeded in the smaller courtroom before Judge Robert Clapp Jr. The 11 to 1 verdict followed 90 minutes of deliberation. State's Attorney Richard Douglas led the case for the prosecution. defense was led by Herbert Morrison.

Wheelchair basketball game set for October 28 at FCC gym

The Disabled Citizens of Frederick County announce the third annual wheelchair basketball game featuring Capital Wheelers and the Baltimore Ravens. The event follows NCAA rules with chair out of bounds as out of play and a point system per seat. Tickets go on sale October 21 at local booths with donated seats allocated to students. proceeds aid Disabled Citizens and Paralyzed Veterans of America.

County rescinds vehicle ban for animal wardens

Frederick County Commissioners voted to lift an Oct 2 order barring animal control wardens from using county vehicles after hours. The panel amended the rule to allow one warden to use a vehicle for emergency calls while awaiting investigations into reported misuse.
