Mount Airy festival draws huge turnout for eighth year
Mount Airy hosted its eighth annual fall festival over the weekend with attendees described as overwhelmingly large. Festival chairman Ben Gue could not estimate exact numbers but noted far more people than last year, many food booths selling out and enthusiasm from crafters and vendors for next year. The chili cookoff crowned Jim Hillen of Mount Airy as first place, with Jackie Everett of Glenwood, Md., second and Ed Walbroehl of the Mount Airy area third.
