FMH Opens Freestanding Dialysis Center in Frederick
Frederick Memorial Hospital opened a freestanding regional dialysis center at 196 Thomas Johnson Drive, tripling the size of its hospital unit. Dr. Mark Rubin notes growing patient volume since 1989, with 50 plus patients treated weekly and capacity for up to 126. The center includes 18 stations now, planned for 24, and offers four to five hour treatments, with inpatients still treated at FMH for acute renal failure. The facility improves access, with staff including RNs, dialysis technicians, a dietitian, social worker, and clerical support, and aims to provide psychosocial benefits and transportation help for patients.
