Soviet Amusement Over U S Lend Lease to Russia
There is evident concern in Kremlin circles that the United States while opposing communism still fulfills lend lease and UNRRA aid to Russia. Census data show over 1947's first nine months the U S shipped more than 1123 million dollars in exports to Russia, with 545 million borne by American taxpayers via lend lease and UNRRA. Russia is technically obliged to pay from 1934 for at least 22 years, through 1976, while morally the U S has fulfilled its part. Americans sense they are supplying goods at about 60 percent cash payment, the rest resembling a gift.
