Judge gives 50 year term for rape and kidnapping in Lake Needwood case
Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Delawrence Beard sentenced Steven Szekely, 26, to 30 years for first degree rape and 20 years for first degree kidnapping, consecutive, for abducting and raping an 11 year old girl near Lake Needwood Park while posing as a police officer. The victim and her 16 year old boyfriend were in a parked car when attacked. Szekely has prior sentences and remains jailed for burglary of police stations. parole eligibility on the rape and kidnapping terms is in about 13 years.

Woman found on Appalachian Trail identified tentatively
Maryland State Police tentatively identified a Smithsburg woman found dead on the Appalachian Trail near Hemlock Hills shelter as a death by own action.
