Spouses barred from Frederick County school board
Gov William Donald Schaefer signed a bill making Frederick County the states only jurisdiction to prohibit spouses of teachers and administrators from serving on the Boards of Education. Frederick County commissioners retreat from new retirement plan provision
Less than two weeks after adopting a county employee retirement plan the Frederick County Commissioners retreat from a four year vesting provision for current term benefits. The change means vesting occurs at the end of the 1994 term with $2000 per year for four years, instead of requiring a second term. The shift follows a state plan with five year vesting and aims to avoid mid term payoffs while honoring legal advice. The issue, raised by Commissioner Gray and others, prompted scheduling for administrative business on June 3.
