Gomer Hodge blasts quotes as fans mold hero image
Cleveland Indians rookie Gomer Hodge complains that writers misquote him and manufacture past events. The 27 year old from Ruthersfordton NC rose from minor leagues to key role, drawing fan clubs and a popular nickname tied to Gomer Pyle. He recalls bus driving and milking cows in high school and says the public attention exceeds his on field hits.
