Mandel To Hear Testimony On Controversial Laws
Annapolis Maryland Governor Marvin Mandel schedules four hours of Friday hearings to hear from residents seeking vetoes on 14 of more than 40 bills from the 1971 legislature. The medical treatment measure draws strongest opposition for provisions allowing treatment of minors without parental consent in some cases. The schedule restricts sessions to 30 minutes per bill with no extensions. Other topics include repealing the amusements tax, requiring heavy bumper standards on new cars, and allowing the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority to condemn privately owned transit firms in the metro area.
