Three Years for Stabbing at Police Court
In a police court session on Monday night Magistrate Manuel M. Wein sentenced Lewis Gibson to the maximum term of three years in the House of Correction for entering a neighbor’s bedroom and stabbing Bertie Hoy with a butcher knife. Gibson admitted drinking and cited a criminal record including a prior year in custody. Robert Stevens, 19, was examined for possible mental disorders after recent self-harm attempts. officers testified Stevens had previously threatened self-harm and shown emotional instability when drinking. Three suspects fled to Dolly's Diner as soldiers wrecked the place and were later captured and turned over to Camp Detrick military police on civil charges or disturbing the peace. State’s Attorney Edwin F. Nikirk prosecuted.
