Bids For Jail Work Exceed $40,000

Frederick County commissioners received bids for plumbing heating and ventilating and electrical work at the remodeled jail. Electrical contract awarded to Herbert S Hahn of Frederick for 40 74 Low bidders for plumbing and ventilating were Osten Brothers and Merril F Wachter with bids close to 30 9 These bids were considered in line with present cost estimates and three months ago would have been higher.

Large Congregation Hears Seminary Choir in Lancaster

An almost capacity congregation at the Westminster Reformed Church in Lancaster Pa heard the Seminary Choir of the Evangelical Reformed Theological Seminary give a sacred choral program. It included a tenor solo by Francis F Ringer from Handel's Messiah and a quartet. Rev Paul L Athouse preached with Rev Dr Unwin Frantz describing the choir’s tour aims to bring the Seminary and contrestations of the denomination into closer relationship and understanding. The choir also sang in Westminster Sunday afternoon and in Baltimore at night. After the service the choir members were guests of Hood College.

Sewer Bids To Be Asked In Linden Hills And Catoctin

At a special meeting the Mayor and Aldermen authorized City Engineer W Raymond Walter to advertise bids for sanitary sewer work in Linden Hills and the Catoctin avenue area near McCurdy Field. Bids will be opened when set. plans and specs are near completion. A special session Wednesday at seven will adopt an ordinance to authorize sale of $600000 public improvement bonds approved by act signed by Governor Lane.

Kington March 7 You can buy an automobile on two months credit today. Refrigerators radios and television had their installment buying limits raised to nearly two years. The Federal Reserve Board, pressed by shopkeepers and car dealers, after January’s drop in time buying, remixed controls. Previously payments over 1,000 in 18 months, now 12 months. Down payments lowered to 5 percent from 20. Must pay cash for one third of total price.

Police Gave Story Of James Case At Baltimore Trial

State evidence showed a UP dispatch broadcast a murder confession and a criminal record. Miss Mary Jane Taggart testified the commissioner discussed Eugene James, a 19 year old janitor, linked to Marsha Brill’s July murder, with James later identified by a rape suspect.
