Every Day Use Atomic Energy Discussed at Kiwanis meeting
A Frederick Kiwanis Club luncheon featured Francis Leon Key Hotel speaker Dad ML Rickman of the Isotopes Development Division of the AEC. He described peacetime isotope uses in medicine agriculture and industry and noted no easy yes or no answer to safety. He cited sterilizing screw worms, improving crop yields, and food preservation as already in use and gave examples like mutating navy beans for higher resistance and potential future benefits.
