Master of Organs Presents Mexican Instrument Heritage
David W. Hinshaw will present Four Centuries of Mexican Organs with color slides and tape recordings. The illustrated talk occurs June 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Smithsonian National Museum of History and Technology in Washington, D.C., and repeats June 24 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Glen Burnie for the Organ Historical Society convention. Hinshaw, El Paso musician and scholar, traces Mexican organ building from 1530, highlighting Spaniard builders, ornate cases, and notable churches. He is a Smithsonian collaborator and former St. Clement’s organist with a long record of performances in the United States and Mexico.
