Short knockouts at Linganore Creek power plant
Frederick City’s Linganore Creek water filtration plant lost service for over seven hours over the weekend due to an aging underground 430 volt conduit short. City engineer Rothenhoefer said the fault blew a conduit wall from a transformer to the plant’s main switchboard. Repair crews from Potomac Edison Co and local contractors restored full operation by 1 a.m. Sunday with six new cables totaling 485 feet laid and rewiring completed, costing about 1200 dollars. The outage occurred during low water use, avoiding shortages.
