Speaks On Potomac River Dams At Frederick Toastmasters
Dr. Walter Foster of Ft. Detrick warned Frederick Toastmasters that by 2030 more than 400 dams in the Potomac Valley could render the river valley less accessible and more costly. He urged a clean river plan aiming for 95 percent purity. George A. Kline recounted the C&O Canal history from 1828 to 1850 and noted the last commercial trip occurred in 1924. A roundtable on conservation followed, with meetings scheduled for June 11 at the Frederick Hotel.
