Panel advises state BoE on federal funds
The Governors Advisory Committee on the Educational Block Grant will propose to the Maryland State Board of Education how to distribute federal block grant funds. The plan keeps 80 percent to local education agencies and 20 percent to the state department, with priorities including Project Basic and early childhood. It adds higher order thinking skills and equal opportunity, and uses a 75-25 enrollment to high-cost/disadvantaged formula for local allocations. Comments invited to Maryland State Board of Education or to Committee Chairman David C. Daneker.
