Time capsule buried with Key monument unearthed after 100 years
The 4 by 14 inch copper capsule buried under the Francis Scott Key monument at Mount Olivet Cemetery was found open and wet after nearly a century. A restoration expert will assess the contents, including a Bible and a silk satin flag, with public reveal planned for June 14. A new capsule is slated for August 9 as a 250th birthday event.

Whittier development residents who opposed a Weis Market project won as Marvin Ausherman Development and Weis Markets withdrew their Frederick City Planning Commission application. Teen who escaped from Cullen arrested
A 16 year old, Michael Keith Beers, captured during a Baltimore County traffic stop after a six week manhunt. He faces adult charges including first degree assault, escape and handgun use related to the December 1 Sabillasville escape. Beers is jailed without bail at Frederick County Detention Center. Paul David Miller, 16, also involved, was identified as the masked gunman. Miller was arrested last week. A second accomplice remains at large.

Accident victim remembered as gentle family man
The case against James Christopher Proctor, 31, of Monrovia, will be presented to the Frederick County grand jury on Friday or the following Friday. Proctor faces a manslaughter by motor vehicle while intoxicated charge for the 3 49 pm Saturday crash on Md 75 that killed James David Baggett, 42, of Mount Airy, who was riding a bicycle. Proctor posted a 20000 bond and was released. Baggett, a longtime Interstate Electronics Corp. employee, was described by friends as a husband and father of a 5 year old daughter and a generous, athletic man.
