Agricultural groups warn Gramm Rudman budget cuts hit farms
At the Walkersville Dairying Today Seminar James C. Barr of the National Milk Producers Federation said the Gramm Rudman act will slash agriculture while 78 percent of the budget is untouchable. He noted potential outcomes include a 4.3 percent cut across all commodities and losses to the Commodity Credit Corporation over 800 million, with deeper cuts in Food Safety and Inspection Service and Soil Conservation Service among others, as lawmakers consider litigation or revision.
